I live in the south. Deep south. More south than that. I can be on the Gulf Coast in about an hour. As the crow flies that's pretty close. (Or should I say as the storm flies!) When The Weather Channel has 24 hour coverage on a storm, it makes people do crazy stuff. "Go buy some bread and milk!" or "You got gas for the generator?" and "Where are y'all going when it gets bad?" All of these phrases were rampant at church yesterday. Then there was, "Are we having church next week?" (Well, lets let the storm actually get in the Gulf before we make that decision.)
Some one has told us that something bad might happen and we go into surviaval mode. (The number of hits on YouTube videos that show how to prepare for & survive a storm have skyrocketed.) Make this preparation. Batten down those hatches. Secure the loose items. Stock up on supplies. WOW!
Makes me stop and think, and I'll be brief...
We have been told that because we are sinners, and we are, that we will die and go to hell without the forgiveness of our Father through Jesus Christ. So what do we do about that? What about the storms in your life? Do you prepare yourself spiritually for the storms that WILL come your way? Do you stock up on Scripture memorization? Do you show others how you got through the last storm? Do you try to predict the future with the latest model or do you depend on your Father to protect you like He has done all your life? Jesus says, "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Trust Him to be your Savior in all of life. In the calm and in the storms, He will be there!
